Our Story
Hi, I’m Kat, the founder of Star Paws Cornwall. Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and working with them professionally has been my passion for over a decade. I spent many years caring for rescue dogs at an animal welfare charity, where I saw firsthand how patient, compassionate care — combined with positive reinforcement training — can transform a dog’s confidence and wellbeing. Watching shy, nervous, or anxious dogs gradually learn to trust through time, encouragement, and consistency has been incredibly inspiring.
Alongside this, I also have experience in dog grooming, which has deepened my understanding of canine behaviour, health, and wellbeing. Grooming isn’t just about maintaining a dog’s appearance — it’s another opportunity to connect with them, read their signals, and help them feel calm and comfortable in new environments, always using a gentle, positive approach.
I created Star Paws Cornwall to bring this same thoughtful philosophy to the local community. My aim was to offer more than just dog walking — I wanted every dog to feel safe, happy, and understood. Some dogs flourish on solo walks where they can explore at their own pace, while others enjoy the fun and social interaction of group walks. By using positive reinforcement and building trust at each dog’s pace, I love seeing them relax, enjoy their surroundings, and grow in confidence.
For me, dog walking is about creating enriching experiences that help dogs feel secure, content, and truly cared for. Every dog is treated like part of the family, and I want owners to feel complete peace of mind knowing their pets are in kind, experienced hands. Being part of a dog’s journey, supporting their confidence, and seeing the joy in their expression is what makes Star Paws Cornwall so special.
